Roulette

Rules and how to play

What Is Roulette?

Roulette is a game of chance where players place bets on where they think a ball will land on a spinning wheel.

The roulette wheel consists of numbered pockets, alternating between red and black colors, and a small ball is spun in the opposite direction of the wheelโ€™s rotation.

How to Play Roulette

The rules are simple: place a bet and try to guess the winning number or group of numbers.

To begin, players place their bets on the roulette table which features various betting options corresponding to the numbers and colors on the wheel (more on this in the next section). After bets are in, the dealer spins the wheel in one direction and tosses the ball in the opposite direction.

The ball spins around the wheel and eventually lands into a numbered slotโ€”if you placed a bet on that slot then you win a payout.

Roulette Versions

There are two versions of roulette: European and American.

  • European: The roulette wheel has 37 pockets, numbered from 0 to 36.

  • American: The roulette wheel has an additional double-zero pocket, bringing the total number of pockets on the wheel to 38.

The double-zero pocket in American roulette has a significant impact on the odds and probabilities of the game as it reduces the overall chances of winning compared to European roulette. While roulette wheels differ, the betting options and payouts are the same between each version.

The DG Casino only offers European roulette tables.

Types of Bets, Odds, and Payouts

There are two main categories of bets: inside bets and outside bets.

These betting options provide players with different opportunities to bet on specific numbers, groups of numbers, or characteristics. Each bet has its own probability of winning, and the payout ratio corresponds to the risk involved.

Understanding the odds and payouts of each is crucial for making informed betting decisions.

Inside Bets

Inside bets involve placing chips on individual numbers or combinations of numbers.

These bets are located on the inside of the board and offer higher payouts but lower odds of winning.
